COMPUTER EDUCATION IN
JAWAHAR NAVODAYA VIDYALYA SANGRUR (LONGOWAL)
Information Technology is touching every activity in our life.
JNV’s being model pace- setting institutions in the district
being used equipped with required educational technology
including computers. Under the Computer Education Programme each
Vidyalaya is equipped to develop the Computer Lab. The main
objectives of Computer Education Programme of the Vidyalaya are
to:
Facilitate the students to learn on continuous basis from
Class-VI to XII.
Create Computer culture & consciousness among the young rural
students.
Familiarize the students with different range of computer
applications & help them to understand the potential of
Information Technology in learning process.
Empower the teachers to use computers as one of their
important teaching aid.
Provide hands on experience to students.
Improve the capacities of the children in terms of their
performance in scholastic & non-scholastic activities.
Integrate Information Technology with classroom transaction.
COMPUTER EDUCATION IN JNV
Computer Education Programme was introduced in JNVs during the
year 1991 in a faced manner with a view to impact of computer
skill on all students to familiarize them with a range of
computer applications and information processing and to
encourage teachers to use the technology in a creative way.
Samiti has provided suitable computer text books (including own
published computer text books) & internet connectivity to most
of the other JNVs. Samiti has been organizing computer training
to Principals , teachers & staff of Vidyalayas in collaborations
with various reputed organizations like NCERT, Intel Asia Inc,
World Links.
NEW INITIATIVES
To
develop the computer infrastructure in JNVs covered under CEP by
equipping them with 6 more latest computer systems & other
necessary computer hardware/software etc. The smart Class- Room
Scheme has also been introduced by equipping each JNV with one
colour TV 29”, Touch-Screen Boards along with cable system for
integrating ICT in Class-room Transactions.
PROVISION OF COMPUTER TEXT BOOKS FOR STUDENTS
In
order to facilitate the computer literacy programme to the
students of JNVs, Samiti has published the Computer text Books
exclusively for Navodaya Vidyalayas under the title “Learn and
Practice Computer” in 7 volumes. The syllabus is divided into 7
years of study from class VI to XII. In addition to the Computer
text books published by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, The
Vidyalayas were also directed to procure 4-5 Computer literacy
Books published by NCERT namely “Learning with Computer.”
INTERNET CONNECTIVITY
A
Majority of JNVs have dialed – up Internet Connectivity to
access the internet/ web browsing. Samiti has set-up Internet
Connectivity by Commissioning BSNL Broad-Band for Students,
Staff- Members and Others.
COMPUTER LITERACY PROGRAMME
Computer Literacy Programme will be organized in summer
vacations for Students of neighboring schools who will be
trained under CLP Programme. Visit of the neighbouring school
students in the computer lab.
